Medical Dosimetry Training Course

An Entirely On-line Course consisting of 21 Webinar Modules
Course Overview

This 21 module webinar course series provides a basic overview of medical dosimetry starting from basic principles through practical clinical applications. Each module is modeled after the AAMD curriculum designed for students who are new to medical dosimetry and established practitioners. This webinar series offers attendees a basic review of mathematics and physics, and an understanding of dosimetry principles. The lectures offered by physicists and certified dosimetrists will provide attendees with the basic tools used in clinics. The content is thorough and specific. The course will fulfill the need of didactic lectures and provide clinical insight to implement knowledge gained in a practical setting. Attendees may utilize the knowledge gained towards professional development, entry into the field or CMD certification. Each module is designed for both those new to medical dosimetry and to established practitioners.

21 webinar modules are listed by title, date and CE credit. Each webinar has a link to the individual module objectives, outline and credit. Modules will run between 1 and 4 hours each and a specified date and time are indicated with each webinar. You can purchase each module independently or the entire series. If you purchase the entire series, you will save up to $144.
Educational Objectives
At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Integrate knowledge of mathematics, physics, and dosimetric principles and understanding of radiation dose distributions in dosimetry practicies.
  • Describe 2D and/or 3DCRT treatment planning approaches commonly used for common anatomical regions.
  • Explain various methods for photon planning and effect of field configurations on isodose distributions.
  • Design computer generated treatment plans.
  • Formulate methods in the plan optimization process and evaluate effectiveness of plans.
  • Appreciate the impact of various plan designs on dose limiting structures & organ tolerances.
  • Use common mathematic functions and applied mathematics to calculate doses to defined targets.
  • Function effectively within dosimetry under supervision of a qualified physicist or dosimetrist, incorporate sound dosimetry practices within the technical setting.
  • Participate or assist in dosimetric activities.
  • Serve as a mentor within Medical Dosimetry.
