The deployment of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) in radiology is changing the way imaging services are provided. PACS management is a growing challenge for Radiology department personnel and vendors.
The emergence of the Imaging informatics profession and the PACS Administrator role is an answer to the complexity of the “digital imaging environment”. PACS management and healthcare informatics require specific knowledge and skills unique to this technology.
PACS Administrator Training Course
Course Overview
MTMI's PACS Administrator Course aims at providing all of the essential skills and knowledge necessary for the successful, planning, implementation
and maintenance of a PACS, or other radiology system. This program also helps prepare students for the Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP) certification exam. Major topics include: a comprehensive guide to DICOM and HL7, Teleradiology, PACS architecture, integrating the healthcare enterprise
and electronic medical records.
Course Objectives
At the completion of this course,
participants will have:
  • Acquired the essentials in preparation
    for the Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP) examination,
    sponsored and accreditied by the
    American Board of Imaging Informatics (ABII) which was founded by the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine
    (SIIM) and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • An understanding of the practical and operational issues essential to a
    successful PACS implementation.
  • A functional knowledge of day to day
    PACS maintenance activities.
  • A practical understanding of the DICOM and HL7 standards.
  • An understanding of how PACS
    integrates with other hospital systems.
  • The ability to troubleshoot PACS and
    RIS problems.
  • The ability to design and streamline workflow to suite the needs of a digital imaging environment.

Who Should Attend
This course is designed for all imaging professionals who want to enter the challenging world of Imaging Informatics. Radiology Administrators, RT’s and personnel who are actively involved in PACS selection, planning and implementation will benefit from this course. Course Credit
This course provides 35.5 Hours Category A continuing education credit for radiologic technologists. A certificate of attendance will be provided for each individual upon completion of the course. All attendees must attend the entire course to receive full credit. Credit is awarded for radiologic technologists as ARRT Category A Credit approved by the ASRT, and credit from various licensure states.
