2 Day Computed Tomography Conference for Technologists

8 or 16 Hours Category A Credit
Christine Eckenrod, RT(R)(CT)(MR)
About these Seminars
Day 1 of this conference, Optimizing CT Protocols and Dose, will explore the evolution of of CT. In the past several years, significant advances in the technology of Computed Tomography (CT) have occurred. These developments have driven an expansion in the clinical applications of CT and an increase in the number of CT scanners. Opportunities for CT technologists have grown as a result. Never has the importance of CT dose control been so prevalent in the public as it is today. The competent CT technologist must have the most current information in order to provide quality patient care.

Day 2 of this conference, A Review of CT Imaging, will build a solid foundation of understanding in CT. Computed Tomagraphy has undergone a tremendous development since the Noble Prize winning works of Sir G. Hounsfield. CT has developed into an essential component of state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging. For these reasons, understanding the physical principles of Computed Tomography is essential for those working in the field as well as those considering multi-disciplinary practice. The principles of CT data acquisition, image reconstruction, and image display will be addressed. A comprehensive review of CT image quality and anatomy as well as the factors that affect image quality will be discussed. This seminar will provide an opportunity for expanding your knowledge in this modality and an edge while preparing for the CT examination.

Educational Objectives

At the completion of the seminar,
Optimizing CT Protocols and Dose

  • Apply CT imaging parameters to image quality.
  • Examine prospective and retrospective imaging.
  • Summarize binary data.
  • Identify quality control requirements.
  • List ACR accreditation standards.
  • Assemble a list of relevant formulas.
  • Relate safe administration of contrast media with routes of administration.
  • Integrate lab values of contrast media reactions.
  • Describe the anatomy, basic protocols and imaging technique for the spine, extremities, head, neck, chest, abdomen and pelvis.

About the Instructor
Image
Christine Eckenrod RT(R)(CT)(MR)
Christine started her medical imaging career when she graduated from the Altoona Hospital School of Radiologic Technology in 1986. In 1993, she specialized as a CT technologist followed by MRI in 2004. She is currently employed as a CT/MR technologist with Alliance Imaging, INC. She has extensive experience in CT training and protocol development. Christine presents a lighthearted, easy to understand review of all of the basics of CT Scanning while reviewing the content specifications for the ARRT CT registry. You will be sure to enjoy the presentation while learning or refreshing your knowledge in the field of CT Imaging.
Seminar Credit
An application for 8 hours of Category A continuing education credit for radiologic technologists has been filed for each day. A certificate of attendance will be provided for each individual upon completion of each seminar. All attendees must attend the entire seminar to receive full credit. Credit is awarded for radiologic technologists as ARRT Category A Credit approved by the ASRT, and credit from various licensure states.
At the completion of the entire 2-day conference, attendees will have earned 16 hours of Category A credits.
