Full Field Digital Mammography (FFDM) holds promise to improve a host of new imaging applications
for your breast imaging practice. FFDM will improve image quality, increase patient flow, decrease
patient dose and reduce retakes. The advantages of this new technology account for the proliferation of
commercial FFDM units in the clinical setting. This seminar provides an opportunity to learn from an
experienced faculty about this new technology and its appropriate utilization in a breast imaging
practice. Practical considerations for making the transition to digital
imaging will be emphasized, and new applications that are facilitated by the digital image format will be
reviewed.
The Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) requires 8 hours of training on FFDM before
operating these units. Attending this seminar fulfills this requirement.
Educational Objectives
At the completion of this seminar,
participants will be able to:
Describe the differences between imaging systems used to perform Full Field
Digital Mammography (FFDM) examinations.
Understand the differences between film-screen and digital imaging.
Describe the parameters in digital imaging that control resolution and
contrast.
Know the differences in image display/output devices used in digital
mammography.
Describe newly emerging technologies used with digital mammographic
imaging.
This seminar is designed for radiologic technologists working
in mammography, as well as supervisors, MQSA inspectors, vendor personnel,
and others interested in FFDM.
It will provide a good introduction to digital imaging technology as it
relates to breast imaging and will provide 8 hours of training on FFDM as required by MQSA
before working on a Digital Mammography Unit.
This training is one day of MTMI's 5-Day Mammography Course and is offered here as a
stand alone seminar. Those enrolled in the 5-Day Mammmography Course will be in attendance
along with those attending this 1-day seminar on its own.
This seminar provides 8 hours of Category A continuing education credit for
radiologic technologists recognized by the ARRT and various licensure states.
It also provides 8 hours of training in digital mammography as a new modality
as required by MQSA. A certificate of attendance will be provided for each
individual upon completion of the course. Attendees must attend the entire
course to receive full credit.
