Breast Imaging: the Science, the Art, the Challenges, the Opportunities
7.5 Hours Category 1 Credit and
9 Hours Category A Credit
G.W. Eklund, MD
About this Seminar
Mammography has become a very sophisticated and changing modality in the last few years. A focus on advanced, specialized training in this modality is necessary to provide quality mammography examinations.

This seminar will provide increased knowledge of the technical aspects of mammography including the various factors that affect image quality. How to control these factors and recognize the problems they can cause will be discussed.

The expanded role of the breast imaging radiologist, work-up and management of breast lesions, and the comprehensive multi-disciplinary team approach to breast disease will all be discussed at this seminar. If you are a radiologist, physician, mammographer, technologist or health care professional wanting to enhance your mammography skills, this seminar is for you.
Educational Objectives
At the completion of this seminar, participants will be able to:
  • Have a new perspective on complexities and strategies for improving efficiencies in a breast imaging practice.
  • Be able to recognize and remedy deficiencies in image quality and discordant findings between images.
  • Understand the breast imaging technologist's role in implementing policies and procedures that minimize the risk for missed or delayed diagnosis of breast cancer.
  • Understand male breast disorders and appropriately image the male breast.
  • Have a clearer understanding of breast cancer, its various types, pathology, biological behavior and imaging manifestations.
  • Understand the meaning and significance of elevated risks for developing breast cancer.
  • Understand the options, advantages, limitations and challenges in making the transition from analog to digital mammography.
  • Understand the current and potential future role of MRI in a breast imaging practice.
