About this Seminar
This seminar presents an overview of forensic and trauma imaging. The focus is placed upon the role of the radiographer, his duties, requirements, and responsibilities as they pertain to
the work environment under the direction of a forensic pathologist.

Educational Objectives
At the completion of this seminar,
participants will be able to:

- Describe the physical and mental requirements of the radiographer working in forensic medicine.
- Describe the radiographic protocols for unnatural deaths.
- State the difference between the cause of and the manner of death.
- Describe the purpose of an autopsy in a death investigation.
- Explain the difference between blunt force and sharp force injury.
- Explain what is meant by the "Battered Child Syndrome".
- Describe 3 locations of skeletal injury in child abuse.
- Explain 3 uses of forensic odontology.
- Explain 3 uses of radiography in the identification of skeletal remains.
- Explain the role of entomology in forensic medicine.

Both registered technologists and radiology students will benefit from this seminar. It is appropriate for technologists who want to improve skills in working with trauma and
forensic patients. It is especially appropriate for the technologist recently employed in a trauma or acute care facility and for any technologist with an interest in forensic
radiography.

Professor Paul Laudicina has been a radiologic technologist for over 48 years. He retired from the College of Du Page in Glen Ellyn, IL. having taught for 35 years and is
currently a teaching faculty in the Radiologic Technology, CT, and MRI programs at Long Beach City College, Long Beach, California. Paul has also presented seminars on many topics
over several years for MTMI.
