Implementation of MRI Accreditation
8 Hours ARRT Category A Credit
Ron Price, Ph.D.
or
Donna M. Reeve, M.S., DABR, DABMP
|
|
About this Seminar
MRI is experiencing increased utilization for imaging. MRI technology advances
are moving fast as this modality takes on more of the diagnostic imaging workload.
More and more insurance entities are requiring accreditation and the ACR is the
standard for MRI accreditation. In addition, the Intersocietal Commission for
the Accreditation of Magnetic Resonance Laboratories is covered. This seminar
provides a working knowledge of the accreditation process and standards necessary to
fulfill the requirements, along with detailed information on completing the requirements.
|
Educational Objectives
At the completion of this seminar, participants will be able to:
- Utilize the ACR MRI QC manual.
- Understand the technologist and physicist's role in the accreditation process.
- Understand the technical components required in the accreditation process.
- Identify common problems and special considerations in preparing for accreditation.
- Learn the background of the accreditation process and how to obtain resource information.
- Understand the application process and associated requirements.
- Understand MRI ICAMRL accreditation.

About the Instructors
|
|
Ronald R. Price, Ph.D. is professor of Physics, Radiology and Radiological Sciences at
Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He is certified in Diagnostic
Radiological and Medical Nuclear Physics by the American Board of Radiology and in Magnetic
Resonance Imaging Physics by the American Board of Medical Physics. Dr. Price serves as a member
of the ACR Committee on Quality Assurance in MRI and contributed to the development of the ACR
MRI Quality Control Manual. Dr. Price is also a prolific author and has considerable experience
teaching the principles and application of MRI to technologists.
Donna M. Reeve, M.S., DABR, DABMP is a Senior Medical Physicist in the Department of Imaging
Physics at the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. She is a diplomat
of the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Radiologic Physics, as well as a diplomat of
the American Board of Medical Physics in Magnetic Resonance Imaging Physics and licensed in
Diagnostic Radiological Physics in the state of Texas. Her friendly teaching style and extensive
knowledge of MRI accreditation will make this a very enjoyable educational experience.
