Implementation of PACS and Digital Imaging
8 Hours ARRT Category A Credit
Gary Stevens, Ed.M., RT(R)
|
|
About this Seminar
This seminar is designed to update your skills and improve your understanding
of filmless digital imaging and PACS (Picture Archiving & Communication Systems).
As a result of breakthroughs in the ability to capture medical images in digital
form and the ever expanding capabilities of computer technology to store, transmit
and display images, barriers to the utilization of information technology in
radiology are being rapidly eliminated. This revolution in how we acquire,
communicate and store images will have a profound impact on the profession.
Today’s radiology personnel must be educating themselves to utilize this
rapidly advancing technology and participate in it’s appropriate implementation.
|
Educational Objectives
At the completion of this seminar, participants will:
- Identify the major components of a PACS, their functions and common
terminology.
- Describe the technology of digital projection imaging.
- Describe the basics of networking in a radiology department and how the DICOM
standard communicates digital image and demographic information.
- Identify common problems in the acquisition and communication of digital
projection images via PACS
- Understand common issues with DICOM connectivity.
- Compare soft-copy and hard-copy display technologies.
- Understand some of the pitfalls of RIS to PACS integration.
