About this Seminar
This seminar; Improving Your Digital Radiography Skills will address:
- The types of digital detectors employed for radiography and how each acquires an image.
- Characteristics of digital acquisition systems.
- Image accession, initial processing, and final processing.
- The relationship between radiographic exposure and image appearance.
- The appropriate processing steps and the errors that may occur.
- Acquisition precautions
- Myths and fallacies about digital acquisition.
- Appropriate selection of technical factors.
- Evaluation of digital images compared to screen/film images
- Using cues to adjust technical factors and establish proper technique guides
- Limiting patient exposure/dose
|
Educational Objectives
At the completion of this seminar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the various types of digital detectors
- Describe the characteristics and evaluation criteria for digital radiography detectors
- Describe the characteristics of digital images
- Compare digital characteristics to screen/film characteristics
- Compare the advantages and limitations of each system
- Describe the digital image acquisition process
- Describe the basic principles of initial image processing, identifying the role of exposure field
recognition, anatomical menu selection, histogram analysis, default image processing
- Describe the histogram and the process or histogram analysis as it
relates to automatic rescaling and the determination of an exposure indicator
- Utilize the exposure indicator to evaluate exposure and adjust technical factors if necessary
- Describe image acquisition precautions necessary for digital imaging
- Discuss the impact of low intensity radiation response on image acquisition
- Avoid grid utilization errors associated with grid cut off and Moire' effect
- Discuss the role of exposure field recognition on histogram content,
histogram analysis, rescaling, and exposure indicator determination
- Employ appropriate beam/part/plate alignment to avoid histogram analysis errors
