About this Seminar

Mammography continues to present many challenges to the technologist to perfect and maintain his or her skills. Technology continues to improve with the introduction of digital mammography and other advances.

This seminar addresses a number of issues important to executing a quality mammographic exam. It also provides information on the role of emerging technologies such as Computer Aided Detection, (CAD) and the impact of these advancements on breast imaging in the future.
Educational Objectives
At the completion of this seminar, participants will:

  • Become aware of new developments in mammography equipment and receptor systems.
  • Be able to recognize the radiographic appearance of various types of breast cancers.
  • Be knowledgeable of the anatomy and physiology of the breast for both benign and malignant processes.
  • Review basic and advanced positioning techniques for the breast.
  • Learn to differentiate various types of breast implants and proper techniques for imaging them.
  • Understand the purposes and benefits of CAD for mammography.
  • Review the benefits and technology of digital mammography.

Who Should Attend
This seminar is helpful for mammographers, managers, radiographers, educators and health care professionals involved in providing breast-imaging services. This seminar is also helpful for allied health professionals new to this modality.
About the Instructor
Shelly Lille, BS, RT(R)(M)
Shelly holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the State of New York at Cortland, has been an active technologist since 1979, and currently is an independent mammography consultant. For approximately six years, Shelly held the position of Chief Technologist at the world-renowned Wende Logan-Young, MD Breast Clinic in Rochester, New York, where she played a key role in operation of the clinic. Shelly has consulted with manufacturers on the design of mammography systems and has conducted many educational programs for mammographers throughout the United States and Canada. Shelly is co-author of a technique and positioning book on mammography. She has also been a member of the planning committee and faculty of the American College of Radiology’s national course on mammography for technologists since 1992. Shelly’s extensive knowledge and experience in mammography will make this a very rewarding educational experience.
Seminar Credit
This program provides 8 hours of Category A continuing education credit for radiologic technologists recognized by the ARRT and various licensure states. A certificate of attendance will be provided for each individual upon completion of the seminar. All attendees must attend the entire seminar to receive full credit.

Qualifying 'Early' registrations must be made at least 14 days in advance.

Refunds, minus a $30 processing fee, will be granted for cancellations received at least 3 days prior to the seminar. Cancellations received within 3 days of the seminar will receive a credit toward a future MTMI seminar, minus the $30 processing fee. No refunds will be made after the seminar.

Group discount for a group from one facility registering at the same time: 3-5 attendees 5%; 6 or more attendees 10%.
Group discounts for MTMI Institutional Members can be as high as 25%, please contact MTMI for details (discount is not applicable if the tuition is paid by purchase order). For student rates, contact MTMI. Members of MTMI receive a discount. Only one discount may be applied.
