About this Seminar
Mammography has become a very sophisticated and evolving modality, that continues to
present many challenges to the technologist to perfect and maintain her/his skills.
This seminar addresses issues important to executing a quality mammographic exam,
and provides valuable information on emerging breast imaging technologies. This
seminar will help you prepare for the ARRT advanced level certification, learn
about advanced imaging techniques and understand the MQSA certification and
accreditation process.

Educational Objectives
At the completion of this seminar, participants will:
- Describe the breast structure to include both external and internal breast
anatomy
- Differentiate between common benign and malignant breast disease
- Explain the importance of patient education and medical history
documentation
- Discuss routine and additional mammography projections
- Assess and image patients with difficult body habitus
- Describe emerging breast-imaging options
- Describe various breast cancer treatment options including, drugs, radiation
or surgical
- Discuss the role and duties of the mammographer in quality assurance
- Identify and understand the key elements in the MQSA certification and
accreditation process

This seminar is helpful for mammographers, managers, radiologic
technologists, educators and health care professionals involved in providing
breast-imaging services. It will also be helpful to staff members of
companies offering mammographic equipment and supplies.

About the Instructor

Olive Peart M.S., RT(R)(M)
|
|
Olive Peart M.S., R.T.(R)(M) is a clinical instructor at the Stamford Hospital School of Radiography in Stamford CT. Through her books, writings and lectures Ms. Peart has always expressed a keen interest in mammography and breast imaging and still enjoys working with patients. Her technical query column appears regularly in Radiologic Technology - Journal of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, and she is an editorial consultant and regular contributor to RT Image. Ms. Peart is the author of Spanish for Professionals in Radiology, an English to Spanish translation of often-used, technical terms and radiological instructions. She has also authored Appleton & Lange Mammography Review, a one-stop review for the ARRT mammography examination, and a comprehensive book on breast imaging, Mammography and Breast Imaging: Just the Facts, published in 2005. Ms. Peart has a comprehensive knowledge of imaging the breast and will share that knowledge at this seminar.

Seminar Credit
|
|
This program provides 8 hours of Category A continuing education credit for
radiologic technologists. A certificate of attendance will be provided for
each individual upon completion of the seminar. All attendees must attend the
entire seminar to receive full credit. Credit is awarded for radiologic
technologists as ARRT Category A Credit approved by the ASRT, and credit from
various licensure states.

Qualifying 'Early' registrations must be made at least 14 days in advance.
Refunds, minus a $30 processing fee, will be granted for cancellations
received at least 3 days prior to the seminar. Cancellations received
within 3 days of the seminar will receive a credit toward a future
MTMI seminar, minus the $30 processing fee. No refunds will be
made after the seminar.
Registration Discounts
Group discount for a group from one facility registering at the same time: 3-5
attendees 5%; 6 or more attendees 10%. Group discounts for MTMI
Institutional Members can be as high as 25%, please contact MTMI for details
(discount is not applicable if the tuition is paid by purchase order). For
student rates, contact MTMI. Members of MTMI receive a discount. Only one
discount may be applied.

MTMI reserves the right to cancel any scheduled seminar due to low
advance registration or other reasons. MTMI’s liability is limited to a refund
of any program tuition paid. MTMI recommends that attendees use refundable
airline tickets for travel to seminars. In case of cancellation of a seminar for
any reason, MTMI is not responsible for travel costs incurred by attendees
including non-refundable airline tickets.
