CT Registry Review
8 Hours ARRT Category A Credit
Debra Kendall, M.Ed, RT(R)(CV)(QM)(CT)
About this webinar
In the past several years, significant advances in the technology of Computed Tomography (CT) have occurred with the development of spiral/helical scanning and multi-slice/multi-detector row scanners. These developments have driven an expansion in the clinical applications of CT and an increase in the number of CT scanners. Opportunities for CT technologists have grown as a result. The growth in these more sophisticated capabilities has resulted in a need for CT technologists with more training and experience. Evidence of competency in CT can be demonstrated by completing the requirements for certification in Computed Tomography offered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT). This has become a required credential for employment in many facilities.
This webinar series is designed as a review of the topics included on the certification examination conducted by the ARRT. All of the major topic areas listed in the exam specifications will be covered making this program a very good preparation for this examination. The webinar series will be divided in 4-two hour sessions making this an effective way to review and prepare for the examination. This webinar series can also serve as a comprehensive overview of CT for those wanting to use it to update skills as well.

A printable download will be
e-mailed to each registrant prior to
the first session of the webinar.
This will allow you to follow along
with the presentation and make
notes as you feel necessary.

This webinar will be presented in
four 2-hour sessions.

Educational Objectives
At the conclusion of this webinar, participants should be able to:
  • Understand the patient handling, assessment and monitoring skills required for CT examinations.
  • Safely conduct and monitor the administration of contrast media required for some CT imaging techniques.
  • Appreciate radiation safety and dose considerations needed to conduct CT examinations safely.
  • Describe the main components
of a CT scanner and their function in the imaging process.
  • Understand the operation of a
CT scanner and the control of parameters that affect image quality and artifacts.

Those technologists interested in learning the field of CT will find this webinar series to be a good introduction to the principles and practices of CT. More experienced CT technologist looking for a review and updating of skills will also find the webinar series to be of value while earning 8 category A credits toward ARRT requirements. Students, nurses and other allied health care personnel wanting an overview of the field will find this educational opportunity of value. Personnel of venders of CT and related equipment will find these webinars an opportunity to increase their knowledge of the skills needed to conduct successful CT examinations.
