Overview
About this Course
This conference will provide the participants with in-depth lectures covering a variety of topics related to breast imaging. The curriculum is designed to highlight individual areas of expertise and knowledge from the perspective of both radiologist and technologist as well as demonstrate the collaborative relationship that is essential among colleagues. The variety of lectures will provide you with a renewed insight into innovative technologies that exist in breast imaging today.
Our 26th annual conference will bring in new speakers for the first time to the Duluth conference with brand new topics! We are fortunate to debut breast imaging radiologist Dr. Linda Greer from RadNet/Arizona Diagnostic Radiology in Phoenix, AZ and breast surgeon Dr. Barry Rosen from Advocate Aurora Health in Chicago, IL. In addition, we will present Kelly Bontempo, a genetic counselor from Advocate Lutheran General Hosptial in Chicago, and Lundy Estime, a mammography technologist and AI educator, from West Palm Beach, FL who both will be joining us for the first time. Back by popular demand are Dr. Toula Destounis from Elizabeth Wende Breast Care in Rochester, NY and Miranda Lyman-Hager, RTRM from Kansas City, MO. In addition we are grateful to add Tammy Coryell from Hologic and Marybeth Sliter, from Beekley Medical to our program schedule. We have a fabulous line up of speakers!
Included with Registration is a Saturday evening harbor cruise on the Vista Fleet Cruise Line.
(This cruise was mistakenly stated as taking place Friday evening. Our apologies.)
Educational Objectives
At the conclusion of the program, attendees will:
- Have explored the updates in highlighting breast cancer in minorities
- Be able to discuss the art of mammographic positioning and how to take good mammographic positioning to a whole new level and provide the best mammographic positioning
- Have been introduced to a surgeon’s view of breast cancer treatment when looking into the breast and comparing the internal anatomy to what technologists see on the image when reviewing their positioning after exposure
- Have been introduced to the art & science of oncoplastic surgery which is an approach to surgical procedures for the breast cancer patient that improves cosmetic outcomes after mastectomies
- Have learned how to localize breast cancer lesions using breast tomosynthesis, along with how skin markers can aid with localization and to demonstrate tomosynthesis guided biopsies
- Have been introduced to national guidelines and established risk models used to identify high-risk patients, specifically those with an increased risk for breast cancer and to describe ways to introduce precision screening in the mammography center
- Have explored interesting cases which will pull together multi-imaging modalities
- Have an improved understanding of Artificial Intelligence for the mammography technologist
- Have an understanding of the importance of the EQUIP program
- Know how to ergonomically align performing mammograms with healthy body maintenance
