Wauwatosa-based Medical Technology Management Institute, an educational institution focused on medical imaging and health tech, is partnering with the National Football League's Jacksonville Jaguars to provide ultrasound training to the team's trainers, according to a release from the institute.

The three-day musculoskeletal ultrasound training would teach trainers how to conduct quick medical assessments to inform game-time decisions on player health. MSK ultrasound equipment creates pictures of muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves and joints throughout the body and can diagnose sprains, strains, tears, trapped nerves, arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions.

The MTMI earlier this year moved its international headquarters from Menomonee Falls to the Milwaukee County Research Park in Wauwatosa.

"As athletic trainers in the NFL, we strive to provide the best and most innovative care for our athletes," said Cassie Ettel, associate athletic trainer for the Jacksonville Jaguars, in a statement. "As medical technology advances, we must continue to learn and utilize the best available resources in the assessment and treatment of our players. This partnership will further advance our day-to-day treatment and evaluation techniques for our athletes, allowing us to make the best decisions for athletes in real time."

MTMI also announced it has been approved by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers to expand its MSK ultrasound training with athletic teams.

Established in 1989, MTMI Global provides over 7,000 continuing education and training programs per year for various medical and health care fields, including radiography, mammography, computed tomography, ultrasound, nuclear medicine and radiation oncology. In January of 2019, MTMI was acquired by The College of Health Care Professionals, which is based in Houston and is the largest trainer of allied health professionals in Texas.

MTMI has trained more than 150,000 people in the past three decades.
