MTMI Launches Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer (MRSO) Program
MTMI is launching a comprehensive Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer (MRSO) Program in late January to help address a critical need for safety in MRI healthcare Imaging. It is designed to provide the necessary educational competency and knowledge to individuals responsible for the safe clinical and technical operations under the MRI environment.
There are over 30,000 MRI studies being performed in the United States each year, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). While MRI is considered one of the safest medical imaging modalities, its powerful magnet can pose potential injury or risk to patients, relative companions, staff and operators.
MTMI is excited to offer this new, world class program that can help manage MRI safety and as an added benefit we are able to deliver this high quality 16 hr. course for an affordable price of $499.
The program also includes MR Safety topics assessed by the MRSO Certification Board Examination offered by the American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety (ABMRS). Furthermore, the program enhances the hospital and imaging center’s compliance with the Joint Commission requirements relative to the standards provision in medical imaging services.
The course is taught by MTMI’s highly experienced instructors who are practicing safety officers and teach through case studies and real world experience.
Max Amurao, PhD, MBA, DABR(D,N), MRSE, CMLSO
Dr. Amurao is an actively practicing safety professional and medical physicist. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Medical Physics and Nuclear Medical Physics, by the Board of Laser Safety, and by the American Board of MR Safety. He currently serves as the Director of Radiation Safety for Washington University in Saint Louis, and as an Assistant Professor in the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology
Ryan Draeger, BS, RT(R)(CT)(MR)(ARRT) MRSO (MRSC) MRSE (MRSC)
Ryan is currently working for OSMS, Thedacare Medical Center, and Agnesian/SSM in Wisconsin. Ryan is instrumental in training and educating staff members within his facility on medical imaging safety and patient care. He is also a credentialed Magnetic Resonance Safety officer (MRSO) through the American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety (ABMRS). He enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience with other medical imaging professionals and stresses the significance of MR safety.
