About this Inservice
Information on this page is an example of the Mammography Positioning Workshop program that MTMI can provide. A customized program can be created to meet the needs of your facility.
MTMI is now offering a new, one day mammography positioning workshop at your facility. This course, taught by our expert instructors, is geared towards the needs of your technologists. With a maximum of 5 mammographers participating, it is an ideal learning environment where attendees will learn the essential tips and secrets of the trade to improve positioning skills and image evaluation.
Educational Objectives
At the completion of this seminar, participants will be able to:
- Discuss performance of the CC and MLO views and the variances in positioning techniques among technologists.
- Evaluate CC and MLO clinical images for radiographic landmarks.
- To position (but not image) volunteers in a controlled setting and evaluate strengths and weaknesses of the mammography technologists.
- To image actual patients presenting with wide range of body builds, breast tissue composition and diagnostic problems.

Credit
This workshop provides 8 hours of Category A continuing education credit for radiologic technologists recognized by the ARRT and various licensure states. ASRT Category A credit is also recognized by CAMRT’s Continuing Education Credit Approval Program for CE credit in Canada. A certificate of attendance will be provided for each individual upon completion of the workshop.

Miranda M. Lyman-Hager, RT(R)(M)
Miranda has been a registered radiologic technologist since 1998, specializing in mammography since 1999. After spending many years in a management role for a multi-location imaging center, Miranda decided to put down the management hat and pursue her passion of teaching mammography. She joined the team of instructors at Medical Technology Management Institute (MTMI) in February 2017. At MTMI Miranda is one of 3 instructors providing the 40-hour training course for initial mammography training. She also offers several continuing education courses and travels the US assisting facilities with the ACR accreditation process. When not traveling Miranda works PRN at a local Kansas City hospital working as a Quality Assurance Mammography Technologist. Miranda is passionate about teaching all things mammography from proper positioning to proper QC and helping techs understand the whens, whys and hows of efficient mammography work flow.

Michele Sisell, RT(R)(M)(BS)
Michele has been a registered radiologic technologist since 1998, specializing in mammography since 2005, and breast sonography since 2011. She has also been performing Bone Density (DEXA) exams since 2010. Michele worked at a facility in her hometown for over 22 years where she was the lead breast sonographer for the Women’s Health Pavilion breast imaging department. In 2020 she started working at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN in the breast Imaging department where she currently works. Michele has also been a mammography clinical instructor for a local college and a breast sonography instructor. Michele’s passion for breast imaging led her to MTMI in 2018, where she became an independent breast imaging consultant for facilities all over the united states helping with ACR failures, continuing education and specialized training in mammography and ultrasound. She enjoys teaching and mentoring others and feels blessed to be able to share her knowledge and experiences with others!
