Kelly Bontempo, M.S., C.G.C.
Kelly Bontempo graduated from the genetic counseling master’s program at Northwestern University in 2012 and was certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling the same year. Kelly is a pediatric genetic counselor with Advocate Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois, with special interest in connective tissue disorders, newborn screening, inborn errors of metabolism, imprinting disorders, hereditary cancer syndromes, and rare disease discovery. Kelly also works as a Product Lead for Invitae Digital Health following aquisition of Medneon in 2021, where she served as Head of Genetics. In this role, she lends her clinical expertise to the development of a digital oncology platform centered on precision prevention. Kelly is actively involved in education as core faculty with Northwestern University’s genetic counseling program, as well as in working with medical students, residents, and fellows. Kelly served as President of the Illinois Society of Genetic Professionals in 2017, is on the advisory board for the Sarnoff Center for Jewish Genetics and has been an item writer for the ABGC Board Exam. Kelly's interest in nutrition and its effect on complex, multi-factorial disorders led her to pursue a certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from Cornell in 2015.
