Karen has been in the forensic field for 35 years as a forensic pathology assistant and an educator. Her experiences as an educator include being an adjunct faculty member at College America, Fort Collins for eight years. Karen has also educated technologists, interns, residents, forensic fellows, and law enforcement personnel for 21 years as the Manager of Morgue Operations for the Denver Medical Examiner’s Office. She was instrumental in the process of the Denver office becoming accredited by the National Association of Medical Examiners. Becoming a Radiologic Technologist at that time, she then incorporated her knowledge of forensics with forensic radiology.
Her passion for teaching is focusing on sharing her experiences and knowledge of forensics with technologists in a fashion that enlightens the day-to-day operations in the morgue. She is a member and presenter for the Colorado Society of Radiologic Technologists. She has been a member of the Disaster Mortuary Operation Response Team/ Region VIII for the United States Department of Health and Human Services for the past 20 years.
