About this Program

This comprehensive course equips radiologic technologists with essential knowledge and skills to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in clinical settings. Participants will explore the chain of infection in depth and examine how technologists can interrupt each link to reduce transmission risk. The course covers key infection control practices, including the differences between medical and surgical asepsis, the principles of standard precautions, and the proper sequence for donning and doffing personal protective equipment (PPE). In addition, you will learn about sterile procedures specific to radiology, sterile technique fundamentals, sterile gowning and gloving, and the unique infection control considerations during surgical radiography.

Agenda:

  • Infection control chain: 6 links
  • Four infectious agents: bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoan parasites
  • Asepsis: Medical and Surgical
  • Standard Precautions
  • Sequence for Donning and Doffing PPE
  • Sterile Procedures in Radiology
  • Sterile Technique: field, drape, supplies, pour, and packs
  • Sterile Gowning and Gloving
  • Surgical Radiography

How it Works:

  • The On Demand CE activity that you purchased will be located in your “My Account” section once you log into the MTMI Website.
  • You have three attempts to pass each quiz.
  • You must earn a score of 75% or higher.
  • Credit is recorded the day you submit and pass the quiz and is determined using Central time.
  • You have 30 days to complete and pass the quiz.
  • Once passed, access your MTMI “My Account” to print your “Certificate of Completion.”
  • This video expires 1 year after purchase date.
