Bone Densitometry Training Course Educational Objectives

At the completion of this accredited Bone Densitometry program, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the pathology & physiology of osteoporosis
  • Understand all the risk factors involved in the development of osteoporosis
  • Describe the difference between pencil and fan beam technologies
  • Understand T & Z scores and their role

Educational Resources/FAQ

This educational activity may be applied toward the 16 hours of structured education required by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT®) and the International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD) for certification and registration in bone densitometry.

ARRT® certification demonstrates that an individual has achieved the knowledge and clinical competence necessary to perform bone densitometry procedures in various healthcare settings. The certification exam assesses essential topics related to bone health assessment and supports physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis and other bone-related conditions.

To be eligible for the ARRT® Bone Densitometry Post-Primary Certification and Registration, candidates must hold current ARRT® credentials in a supporting discipline.

Need more information about requirements and the registry exam? CLICK HERE and visit the ARRT® website. All clinical requirements and eligibility requirements to sit for the registry exam are listed.

If you need to earn or renew your certification through the ISCD, this course meets the criteria for exam preparation. The ISCD certification exam is given at locations across the United States. The exam consists of 150 total multiple-choice questions that cover knowledge of best practices and industry standards. Like the ARRT® certification, earning or maintaining your ISCD certification can boost your professional potential in a variety of healthcare settings.
