About this Program
This webinar will present content on the thyroid, head/neck, and lymph node mapping examinations. Information included in the content will be: anatomical description, physiologic principles along with lab values, sonographic technique, pathology and alternative imaging of the thyroid, head and neck. Sonographic technique and pathology recognition will also be provided for the lymph node examination.

Educational Objectives
At the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify the macroscopic anatomy of the thyroid gland.
- Summarize the thyroid cycle, as well as recall the hormones involved.
- Describe the various pathological conditions that can be present in the thyroid.
- Manipulate the transducer to produce a diagnostic ultrasound image of the thyroid and surrounding structures.
- Locate specific lymph structures of the neck.
- Relate the physiology and function of the lymph system in the neck.
- Determine optimal patient positioning for lymph mapping.

Meet your presenter(s)

Matt Ryan
MSHA, RDMS, RVT, RT(R)
Matthew is currently the Clinical Coordinator at a Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program located in the upper Midwest. He has 30 years of experience in the medical field, two years as a radiologic technologist and 28 years as a sonographer. He has a wide range of experience in the sonography field, including 28 years as a staff sonographer, four years as a site preceptor and 18 years as a clinical instructor and clinical coordinator. Amongst his educational accomplishments, he developed and implemented training programs for radiology residents, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and staff sonographers. He has presented various topics in the sonography for both national and local organizations. In addition to these duties, he has also served on the following committees with the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography: Awards and Recognition Committee, CME reviewer, JDMS article reviewer and the Events Management Committee. Also, he is on the Board of Directors for the International Foundation for Sonography Education and Research, with a current role as the Treasurer.
